The EmPower Solar Student Competition challenges high school students to use STEM and creative components to research the potential of solar in their own communities.
The Competition has engaged hundreds of students from across Long Island and NYC, and awarded over $20,000 in scholarships.
EmPower Solar sends the winning team to the Solar Decathlon, which has been hosted in Washington, DC; Irvine, CA; and Versailles, France.
Friends and family of participating students are also eligible for a Solar Discount to EmPower their Long Island or NYC home.
The 2015 Student Competition
This year, the EmPower Solar Student Competition was co-hosted by Hofstra University. Three teams took home $6,000 in scholarship prizes to Hofstra University. Students are welcome to attend any one of their 140 undergraduate programs, including Engineering and Sustainable Studies.
