Charles Schwartz

Chuck is a local business professional, engineer, climate reality leader, community organizer and thought leader on energy and sustainability issues. As director of Green Long Island, Inc. a decade old environmental organization on Long Island that has been focused on the delivery of mass scale residential energy efficiency and renewable energy in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Chuck has assisted over 10,000 Long Island families to address energy issues in their homes. These efforts have continued through his collaboration with the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College managing the Long Island Green Homes program, a NY State funded association of Long Island non-profits with local municipalities.

Between 2012 to 2016 he assisted in management of NYSERDA’s Low-Income Forum on Energy. In 2016, he started the LI Community Solar Working Group, a stakeholder group of industry, utility, NGO’s, local government and environmental groups to work together to ensure the smooth and effective roll out of shared solar throughout this region.

Chuck joined Empower Solar as Director of Community Solar and Partnerships to further the goal of large-scale community shared solar in Long Island and the five boroughs, and now leads the commercial sales team.
