EmPower Solar develops, engineers, installs, and services solar and battery systems for residential and commercial clients. Since 2003, EmPower Solar has empowered thousands of New York homeowners and businesses in the Long Island and greater NYC area with 35 megawatts of distributed solar. We proudly serve the Nassau, Queens, Suffolk, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Westchester communities.

State-of-the-Art Solar Design Center

Our Solar Design Center in Island Park, NY is a place for our neighbors to drop in and speak with our solar ambassadors. We’ll show you our solar technology first-hand and help design the best system for your needs.

The Solar Design Center is 100% powered by solar energy, using a 36.5kW SunPower solar power electric system and a battery bank for emergency power and peak energy load shaving. We also have four electric vehicle charging stations available for your use— just check in at the front desk between the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Solar Decathlon

2005

EmPower Solar CEO David and COO Greg compete in US DOE Solar Decathlon, engineering, installing and operating a solar hydrogen fuel cell and battery power plant, placing 5th out of 18 teams.

Residential Install

2006

EmPower Solar installs its first residential solar and storage system.

Superstorm Sandy

2012

Superstorm Sandy wipes out our Island Park, NY location, and we turn our focus back to solar and storage to help our neighboring communities rebuild more resiliently.

1,000 Systems

2014

EmPower Solar installs 1,000th solar panel system.

Solar Design Center

2016

EmPower Solar expands and relocates most operations to a new Solar Design Center in Island Park, NY.

Tesla Certified

2017

EmPower Solar becomes a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer.

Work with NASA

2018

Greg works with NASA to prepare for future space exploration on Mars.

New Warehouse

2020

EmPower Solar expands with new warehouse location in Farmingdale, NY.
